On behalf of CTS and in cooperation with CTS Director of Fieldwork Rev. Simon KWAN and CTS M. Div. graduate Ms. Summer YEUNG, Rev. Dr. Richard CARTER, DCE, spoke on September 30 at the Open Day of St. James Lutheran Kindergarten (LCHKS) in Chai Wan. The day included performances by children for all the people gathered and then activities in the various classrooms for parents and children to join.
For the staff, parents, and children who attended Dr. CARTER talked about “Ceremonies, Celebrations, and Gifts.” He mentioned the ceremonies of the day at St. James and also both China’s National Day, 1 October, and the summer celebration on 1 July for Hong Kong, SAR. He talked also about the ceremonies of Christianity, including regular worship on weekends and special days such as Christmas and Easter. He pointed out that in such ceremonies Christians celebrate God’s gift of Jesus, offering life and honour for the whole human community.
